A cambering machine will induce a permanent camber (or curve ) in your structural shape using mechanical force by means of hydraulic pressure.

Steel supply centers, all structural steel fabricators and bridge contractors would benefit from using a cambering machine.

The beam is held in place by means of the clamping cylinders against the two fixed corner weldments. Pressure is then applied with two large camber cylinders to a point between the two fixed points. With the optional digital readout, the operator can see the amount of camber he is inducing and can stop at the desired camber amount.

The traditional heat process is very uncontrolled. The operator has no way of knowing where the camber is going to end up until after the steel is fully contracted and completely cooled. If the results are not enough camber, you have to go back and repeat the process by adding yet more heat to the affected area. Or worse yet if you have cambered too much, you will have to heat up the opposite side and try to reverse some camber back out. With the mechanical method you have live visibility during the entire process and are able to maintain a very accurate tolerance well within the standards.

Bay-Lynx has engineered many different options and features that can be added on to the main structure to accommodate any brand of drill and coper line. You are able to maintain a low pass line height and a fixed datum line with our 36” stroke option. We also provide a digital read measuring system.

A 40-foot-long beam would typically take three hits, one in the center and two other hits at five feet either side of the center line. The entire process would not take longer than four minutes.

Yes. Many structural fabricators place the Bay-Lynx camber unit in line with their CNC drill and coper line. With our internal rolls and lift and kneel kit you can roll material in and out of our machine easily.

Any amount of labour and material savings will increase your bottom line. By adding a cambering unit to your operation and production line your savings are compounded. Take for example a bundle of W24 beams X 30 feet long with a required camber of 50mm. With the Bay-Lynx cambering machine, one operator could process 40 of these beams in 4 hours, while with the heat method it will be as much as 24 hours plus consumables.
